October 2nd through October 6th is Pink Out Week, which is recognized to bring awareness to breast cancer and educate students about it. Students are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for breast cancer patients.
Not only does Pink Out Week provide an opportunity for students to acknowledge the significance of breast cancer in women’s lives, but a majority of students enjoy adorning themselves in pink attire to display their school spirit.
“Pink Out week is great for students to be exposed to causes like breast cancer and make charity ‘fun’ through their enthusiasm to show school spirit,” Librarian Melody Landrum said.
As breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women, Junior Ayomikun Bamgbala stresses how fundamental it is to have proper knowledge regarding cancer in women.
“As a female myself, increasing awareness for breast cancer is really significant,” Bamgbala said. “Girls should educate themselves on this disease because you never know when it can just appear. Having adequate education on it can prevent potential health risks and help raise funds for treatments.”
The pink-out game will take place today at 7 p.m. at the Ford Center. This will be a notable opportunity for students to show their support for breast cancer and display zeal as a Maverick as this week ends.
