The Texas Rangers won the World Series by defeating the Arizona Diamondbacks with a score of 5-0. The winning strikeout was achieved by Pitcher Josh Sborz, with Shortstop Corey Seager obtaining his second World Series MVP title.
The Rangers moved from Washington D.C. to Texas in 1972, only making the playoffs 9 times, with their first trip to the World Series in 2010. They additionally made it in 2011, where they finished in second place both years.
“It was absolutely insane,” Sophomore Tyler Smith said. “The Rangers had come that far and to see them win for the first time; we were all screaming.”
The parade, which was nearly two hours long, was held on Friday, November 3, and warranted a turnout of 500,000 to 700,000 people. The celebration featured guests such as The Mayor of Arlington, Miss Arlington’s Teen Macie Krause, Miss Arlington Grace Shoop, and the entirety of the Ranger’s winning roster.
“I’ve been a fan of the Rangers since I was a kid, so to see the turnout of the parade, it was definitely warranted,” Smith said.
The victory comes after the Rangers won 90 games during the regular season, winning four out of the five finals games they played against the Diamondbacks.
“I was on the edge of my seat for every game,” Freshman Chase Rodenhaver said. “I was so excited to see them make it to the World Series, I just wanted them to win.”
The Rangers win comes after 52 years in Texas and 63 years in the MLB franchise.
“To see the Rangers finally win a World Series – it was magical,” Rodenhaver said.
