For many, Thanksgiving Break is a time to wind down and relax from the pressures of school. Whether it be hanging out with friends and family or traveling during the week-long holiday, it’s a period to be with loved ones.
Senior Ishaan Jujjuri traveled to Italy with his mother during this break and described it as one of his most memorable experiences.
“One of my favorite memories over break was being stuck in the middle of a village in Italy at night with no transit back to our hotel,” Jujjuri said. “Our Uber app wouldn’t work so we had to get on city trams to get as close to the hotel as possible and then bike the rest of the distance back. It was a hectic night, but forever memorable”.
Although traveling internationally isn’t the usual way to celebrate Thanksgiving, Senior Michelle Eu had a more traditional experience.
“I ate dinner with my family and cousins over Thanksgiving break and helped my aunt cook mac and cheese and bake biscuits,” Eu said. “One of my favorite parts was getting to see my cousin who lives in Chicago. He recently got accepted to a residency program so it was fun to celebrate that with him.”
Spending time with family and enjoying hearty food is what Thanksgiving is all about. However, Junior Sohan Mekala preferred to take his own twist on it and hosted a “Friendsgiving”.
“It was really nice seeing all my friends having fun, eating good food, and doing dumb stuff. It was a good way to unwind, especially during Junior year,” Mekala said.
Although everyone’s experiences during Thanksgiving were different from each other, they all came to the consensus that Thanksgiving reminds them to cherish the people they are closest to.
