The holiday season is often equated with joy, festivity, blissfulness, and unique traditions. There’s no better way to take part in these sensations than to visit the various events Dallas hosts for the holidays.
Holiday at the Arboretum
With 500,000 lights, numerous recreations and sugary delights, the Arboretum will certainly indulge families in the ‘holiday spirit.’
“I enjoy going to the Dallas Arboretum with my family because they put up exquisite Christmas lights and have seasonal flowers and plants which makes our experience more pleasing,” Junior Joanne Seo said.
Apart from the spectacular display of lights, the Arboretum also offers numerous exhibits and retail stores so families can buy a treat or souvenir.
“There’s a lot of local vendors and small businesses that have pop-up stores,” Seo said. “My friends and I usually buy bracelets. Small moments like these become memorable for all of us.”
Gaylord Texan Resort
Every year, The Gaylord Texan Resort located in Grapevine puts up a vibrant exhibition of lights and festive activities for people of all ages.
“I like going to Gaylord because the attractions they have are nostalgic for me,” Junior Keira Severin said. ” As a kid, I loved the ice sculptures they put on view, the ice slide, and the gingerbread decorating corner. Even now when I visit Gaylord, I never fail to have a good time.”
Grandscape – The Colony, Texas
From hot cocoa, Santa and the Grinch, fountain shows, live music, and more, the Grandscape at The Colony is the one-stop-shop for all things ‘holiday.’
“I like going to Grandscape because they have an abundance of pretty Christmas trees and pretty decorations,” Social Studies teacher Lauren Liston said.
Liston emphasized spending quality time with her loved ones at Grandscape.
“It’s not that busy during this time of the year so I like going on the Ferris wheel with my family and just strolling around and window-shopping,” Liston said.
No leisure activity is complete without some scrumptious food. Luckily, Grandscape houses diverse options for dining.
“Barley and Board is my favorite, I specifically enjoy their charcuterie boards. However, this one pizza restaurant has amazing pizza,” Liston said.
