On March 6, Emerson staff and students celebrated Student Resource Officer Walls’ retirement with a heartfelt send-off featuring the band, cheer squad, and drill team. Officer Walls had previously been the Student Resource Officer at Scoggins Middle School, and then he transferred to Emerson once it was built; this means that some students have known him since they were in sixth grade. Students including Juniors Kendle Smith and Olivia Lawrence gave speeches where they expressed their gratitude to Officer Walls, and then he spoke to the student population as well.
