As senior year comes to a close, Emerson’s senior wrestlers have broken numerous records and laid the groundwork for generations of Emerson’s wrestlers in the future.
Starting back in 2023, then junior Delia Stapp was one of the first state qualifiers in Emerson wrestling history. Stapp unfortunately did not make it on the podium that year, but that didn’t stop her.
Stapp later went back to the state competition as a senior, placing sixth, as well as being the first person to win 100 career matches in Emerson wrestling history.
Senior Bradan O’Brien became one of the first male wrestling state qualifiers at Emerson, placing fourth in regionals and advancing to the second round in the state competition.
Senior Landon Purtle became the highest-placing male wrestler in Emerson wrestling history, placing sixth in state. He also had the distinction of being another one of Emerson’s first male state qualifiers.
