Teachers spend all their time preparing lesson plans and making school a fun environment for students at Emerson High School because they love the students here. Take the time to give that all back to your teacher during Teacher Appreciation Week. A simple letter, hug, or gift goes a long way.
Teacher Appreciation Week is right around the corner. This is a time for the students of Emerson to show their appreciation towards our lovely faculty. Read about Coach Michael Heggie, the head wrestling coach and an Algebra 1 teacher. You’d be sure to learn a little about his role and why he should be appreciated.
Working through hard days can be tough for teachers. Coach Heggie appreciates the laughter of his amazing students. This allows Heggie’s day to get a lot better.
“Everyone knows laughter is the medicine to life, I appreciate that my students make me laugh,” Heggie said.
Inspiring his students by coaching them up to the best of his abilities. Coach Heggie loves helping young wrestlers become tough soldiers on the mat and in their personal lives. He wishes for them to succeed and become their best selves as a person.
“My favorite moments during coaching is watching kids be successful and reach their individual goals for themselves,” Heggie said.
Heggie came to Emerson with a positive mindset. Hoping to make things great, Heggie sets personal goals for himself wishing to accomplish them sooner or later.
“My biggest goal that I’ve set for myself here at Emerson is to win a team district regional state championship and I haven’t done that yet,” Heggie said.
Heggie appreciates the opportunity and environment he gets to experience due to being surrounded by a fantastic group of faculty and students.
“I like being a teacher and coach here at Emerson High School. The environment and the children make it a great experience. Can’t complain too much. We have a good group of coaches that’s in the boys’ and girls’ athletic offices. I enjoy collaborating with them on different occasions,” Heggie said.
Coach Heggie should be appreciated and loved by the students of Emerson High because he’s willing to do anything for the students. Knowing that the kids come first, Heggie wishes nothing but the best for them.
“We got great kids here, they’re really fun and I like that about Emerson,” Heggie said.
