On Oct. 25, Emerson Softball coach Iyhia McMichael was inducted into the MSU M-Club Hall of Fame Class of 2024 for her accomplishments in the world of softball at Mississippi State University.
Her induction does not come without a great deal of achievements from high school to present.
After leading her high school softball team, the Lady Dragons of Nacogdoches High School, to the Class 5A State Tournament, McMichael competed in the Mississippi State University softball team. During her years in college, McMichael collected numerous awards including Honda Awards’s Top 4 best collegiate athlete and USA Softballs Top 3 collegiate player of the year.
Following her collection of many more notable awards for her softball achievements, McMichael went on to play for Team USA’s Elite Team, aiding in the Gold Medal win in the 2003 Canada Cup.
McMichael’s success reflects her talent, dedication, and commitment to her sport. The Emerson Mavericks are cheering Coach McMichael on as her number of accolades grows as does her impact on softball.
