Believe it or not sunscreen should be used dailey and not just for a fun relaxing time at the beach. After lots of research and tiktok scrolling, I finally found an affordable sunscreen with great reviews so I decided to try it. My expectations before even putting the sunscreen on my skin was that I wanted it to be sensitive and acne prone skin approved, doesn’t leave white cast, and for it not to have a strong sunscreen scent.This product was beneficial for me because it was great for my sensitive skin, it is reasonably priced, and it does not leave a white cast behind. SKIN1004, a korean skincare company has been all over many social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok for there chemical sunscreen called the Centella Sun Serum. This product is made with calming ingredients like centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid.
The Product
So let’s break down key information about this product. This chemical sunscreen is made with calming ingredients like centella asiatica and hyaluronic acid, which are safe and non toxic to help improve the skin’s barrier. It also features broccoli and wheat sprout extract to lock in moisture and tighten the skin.This product is mostly available online but Ulta Beauty does sell some products from SKIN1004 in, unfortunately not the Centella Sun Serum. This product comes in sizes small, medium and large with prices ranging from $5 to $17.
My Experience
My first time trying this sunscreen was actually in fall of 2023. I first noted that the watery cool feel of the sunscreen felt really relaxing on my skin. It almost made me feel like I was getting a facial! The sunscreen had a white color but it blended impeccably fast into my skin revealing a natural glow. The scent was clean and it did not irritate my eyes or skin which was one of my hopes before trying. In addition, the product did extremely well under my makeup, keeping it radiant and not causing my makeup to pill.
Great for sensitive skin
Many reasons why this sunscreen was recommended was because it was beneficial for sensitive skin types. A website called Yesstyle revealed that 98.7% of customers were satisfied with this product. On the SKIN1004 website a customer said, “This is the only sunscreen that didn’t break my skin out. It’s soooooo hydrating even without using any moisturizer. Love the packaging. Will order again. I have acne and sensitive skin.” An anonymous customer said, “I love the texture and the smell is incredible. It does not irritate nor is greasy.”
I also have sensitive acne prone skin, but this sunscreen definitely did not disappoint.
No White Cast
Many sunscreens struggle with heaviness or white cast meaning that it leaves a ghostly white tint to your skin instead of blending into the skin, but Centella Sun Serum doesn’t have this struggle. When I massaged this into my skin it dissolved into my skin in a matter of seconds. The picture I took above was after only a couple seconds of massaging the sunscreen into my skin. Even on Yesstyle many made notice that there was no white cast, similar to my experience.

Downsides
This product has very few negatives but here are some that you may need to note before purchasing. First, this product is not available in many stores like Sephora or Target and usually has to be purchased online. The shipping may take longer than a trip to the store, so keep that in mind when you decide to get this sunscreen. Also another downfall is that there are so many dupes that may be appealing because of the insanely low price, but don’t fall for it! Many of the dupe products lack the original ingredients and may cause different results from the original.
Final Thoughts
I think this product is very much worth it. The cost is very reasonable with the great quality that it contains. Korean skincare is very good for sensitive skin since it usually has many calming and soothing ingredients, so if you are starting to get into skincare, invest in a good sunscreen, but make it work for you. Do not invest a ton of money for an expensive product that is trending on TikTok, instead buy an affordable one like SKIN1004’s Centella Sun Serum sunscreen. This sunscreen definitely exceeded my expectations and I have already gone through multiple bottles of this.
