A surprising snow storm brought loads of fun to our Emerson Mavericks. North Texas experienced snowfall and ice on Thursday, Jan. 9 and Friday, Jan. 10 with temperatures dropping as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit. Snow days on both Jan. 9 and Jan. 10 gave students ample time to get together with friends and neighbors to play in the snow.
Senior Falak Hasen reminisces about her well-spent long weekend.
“On the first snow day, I spent time outside with my sister and neighbors,” Hasen said. “We made a semi circle with snow angels and built a snowman using shovels and the snow around us.”
Amongst other snow day activities, building snowmen was particularly popular amongst Mavericks.
“On the second snow day, my sister and I spent about two hours making Olaf, which was originally supposed to be a random snowman,” Hasen said.
While students entertained themselves by spending time outside, they retreated indoors for cozier winter activities.
“During the snow days, I played “Mario Kart” with my friends and siblings and made hot chocolate with them,” Hasen said.
Every year, students look forward to the prospect of snow to play outside and enjoy time off from school. This year, students thoroughly enjoyed the uncommon weather conditions and the long weekend that came along with it.
