The Majestics Drill Team participated in the American Dance/Drill Team competition on Feb. 8 at Plano Senior High School under the direction of Amanda Burch and Holly Whitfield. The team performed a jazz, pom and contemporary routine, and the dance officers showcased an additional novelty, contemporary and jazz. It was an all-day event, with the doors opening at 8 a.m. and the awards ceremony beginning at 9 p.m. The Majestics performed their dances in the afternoon, which allowed them to enjoy the officers’ performances in the main gym in the morning. They were also able to get a sense of the competition while immersing themselves in the styles other teams had to offer. After successful jazz and pom routines, the Majestics received standing ovations, proving that the numerous practices spent cleaning and rehearsing had paid off. Their final dance, contemporary, was early enough to give the team time to watch the hip-hop routines until the awards ceremony.
The Majestics were extremely grateful to the Plano Planoettes Drill Team for hosting the competition and the American Dance/Drill Team organization for organizing the event. Parents, friends and teachers also loved getting to watch the performances and were overjoyed with the results.
“Not enough words to say how proud I am! Y’all gave us 100% not only in every performance but through the entire day! Best team ever!” Burch said.
