As prom 2025 approaches, Maverick Leadership is tackling work overloads to ensure the best senior prom yet for the student body. Student planners, specifically senior class members, meticulously execute their vision for prom with minute details of the decorations, foods, activities and so much more. Same as last year, the senior prom will take place at McKinney Cotton Mill, promising an unforgettable experience for the senior class.
While Maverick Leadership undergoes several phases of preparations for prom event planning, they first and foremost make sure the student body’s voice is heard and represented at prom.
“The theme is ‘Midnight in Paris,’ and we honestly wanted to leave the themes up to the student body because we prioritize making sure that they actually want to be there and they enjoy the decorations,” senior class co-president Chloe Jung, 12, said.
Although the voting process, theme decision, and prom advertisements may require some prolonged efforts, the planning committee has been diligently working towards a set goal and bringing their vision to life.
“We’re advertising as much as we can, and everything has been set in stone with the food and the decorations,” student body co-president Chhavi Rohit, 12, said. “It’s [going to be] very glittery, very midnight stars. Think stars, midnight and beautiful.”
Not only does the planning committee have to make sure that the prom decorations align with their vision and emanate the theme ambiance, it also needs to put a huge amount of consideration into their usage of resources.
“For the planning process, it really has to do with mapping out where to put what, because we can have so many good decorations,” Jung said. “We want to use our space most efficiently and make everything look as good as possible, making sure we’re not wasting any decorations.”

In addition to those carefully chosen decorations, some other factors, such as food and installations, will further add a Parisian touch to the event.
“For the menu, we have crepes, crème brûlée, and all this fancy stuff that … I would see if I was walking down a street of Paris [with] little stands with crepes and baguettes,” Rohit said. “That’s [why] we made sure to add a thought of everything that we would see in Paris and at night.”
Aside from all the decorations and food at the event, special food stations await to serve students and add more elegance to the Parisian prom theme.
“We [also] have action stations–the food isn’t just laid out, there is a chef or someone behind the counter making the food in front of you,” Rohit said. “So, the crepes are being made in front of you, … and [the crepe] is getting torched in front of you. It’s just a lot of entertainment.”
Although the planning process entails consistent diligence and faith in its work and progress, the student planners’ ultimate goal is to make sure the students’ visions are met.
“I really hope the main takeaway is that they see their own visions in the prom because we prioritize making sure that we’re implementing things that they want and that they’ve suggested, rather than the things that we think that they wanted,” Jung said.

A prom ticket doesn’t simply offer students a straightforward come-and-go event. It encompasses a wide variety of experiences that will present students with memorable moments during the last chapter of seniors’ high school journey.
“I would want them to know that they’re getting a lot out of their ticket,” Rohit said. “You’re going to have a really nice way to end your senior year activities with a beautiful and well-curated prom that captures Midnight in Paris.”
“It’s your senior year, and this is your chance to go out, have fun, [and] just enjoy it,” Rohit said. “Put a cherry on top of your senior year, go to the prom, … and I’m sure it’ll be a great time.”
