The second-annual Senior Prom will take place on Saturday, April 5, and our Maverick Leadership senior officers have been at the helm of the Midnight in Paris prom theme development. The theme directly influences students’ dress and suit selections, decor and even the menu. Senior class president Kensei Nguyen, 12, and student body co-president Chhavi Rohit, 12, have been instrumental in the curation of the prom theme and the preparation process.
In the early stages of the brainstorming process, narrowing down ideas was made possible by input from the senior class.
“We were deciding mainly between [‘Midnight in Paris’ and] the second most popular theme, which was ‘Night of Glamour,’” Rohit said. “It would’ve been more of the 1920’s Great Gatsby vibe, but it ended up being Midnight in Paris.”
The officers also gathered input from their very own Maverick Leadership team as well to help with idea synthesis.
“Deciding the prom theme affects what kind of food and what decor we get, and we want everything [at the event] to match [the theme] and feel like it was what we promised the student body,” Rohit said.
Both officers are doing their best to make the evening of Senior Prom a memorable way to close out the class of 2025 high school experience.
“Lots of the vibe is the lighting and the decorations that we have in place. Because of our theme, we have Paris-themed foods like crepes and creme brulee,” Nyguen said. “We also have a lot of colors that fit with Paris, an Eiffel Tower, … a lot of big decorations and photo ops people can take advantage of. Not to mention we’re also going to have a bistro chart that’s going to be Paris-themed as well.”
Rohit aims to encapsulate the true essence of what a true midnight in Paris would feel like.
“Imagine Paris, and then as if you are walking down the street in the middle of the night,” Rohit said. “We have street lamps, food stands with Paris street food and the smell of crepes all around the venue. Expect lots of Eiffel Towers and a massive Mona Lisa painting.”
The theme of the dance is a crucial factor that shapes the experience of the whole night, and all those attending the dance are in for a real treat. A broad collection of Parisian foods, lighting, and decor will be featured in Emerson’s Midnight in Paris Senior Prom on Saturday, April 5, at the Cotton Mill located at 610 Elm Street from 7-10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Online School Fees or with cash at the door the night of the dance.
