The student body is preparing for the 2025 STAAR End of Course (EOC) exams in Algebra, Biology and U.S. History. The campus has designated April 23 as the date for the US History and Biology exams and April 22 for the Algebra 1 exam. Students who are not participating in the exams on April 23 will be exempt from school and will receive a late-arrival schedule. Late arrival will not be implemented for the Algebra 1 exam so students who are not participating will follow their usual A-day schedule.
EOC exams serve as a graduation requirement, meaning that every student must earn a minimum passing grade of 70% in order to meet state guidelines for earning a high school diploma. Although there are future opportunities to retake an EOC for students who need it, Frisco ISD (FISD) emphasizes the importance of completing the test while being currently enrolled in the specific course. A key testing opportunity is missed when skipping a scheduled exam date, so students must prioritize avoiding any unnecessary absences or appointments on STAAR testing days.
Every student enrolled in an exam should have received an email sent by Ms. Kim Lam. It’s imperative that these emails are reviewed as they contain testing room assignments, relocation details, late bus schedules, and specific arrival instructions, especially for those who have first or second period at the CTE center. The email also states that because all STAAR EOC tests are administered online, students are required to bring their fully charged FISD-issued Chromebooks to school. Absolutely no personal laptops or non-district devices are permitted for testing. If a student doesn’t have a school issued device, they will be provided with a temporary chromebook laptop on testing day.
Testing will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m., however students are expected to be in their assigned testing rooms before that time so that assigned seating, device distribution, attendance, and any other pre-test preparations can be completed with the help of the room’s designated testing supervisor. While phones remain allowed inside the testing room, they are not permitted to be used or at a student’s desk while testing and will be collected and shut off during the test. All non-FISD approved devices will be held onto until the testing period ends, at which point they will be returned. Students may bring their backpacks into their testing room, however students will not be dismissed from the exam until 12:25 p.m. and only if they have fully completed their test. A second release time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., which is for any remaining testers, after which they will be released as soon as they are done.
After testing concludes, students will attend their second period class right after power hour for attendance, then they will be dismissed into their third period B-day classes. Those who have 2B or 3B courses at the CTE center will receive special instructions from Ms. Lam regarding specific attendance procedures.
It’s highly recommended that students take the time to review helpful study materials before participating in the exam. Free practice tests and courses have been provided by email to any student who needs them through Cambium, where they will sign in as a guest user and enter their first name and TSDS number. A variety of practice tests will be available including previously released tests or practice tests. Anyone who seeks additional information or inquiries may contact Ms. Lam directly at [email protected]. It’s important that students are reminded to remain punctual, get a good night’s rest, bring the appropriate items, and respect the campus guidelines to be able to enjoy a smooth testing experience. Good luck to all who will be participating in the exams.
