Emerson’s Literary-Art Magazine, titled Maverick Mosaic, is an annual publication that showcases the incredible talents of Maverick students in writing and art. Throughout the school year, staff members collect submissions, review them and select a few that are compiled into one cohesive magazine. Starting the 2024-2025 school year, the Literary-Art Magazine is sponsored by The Charge, becoming an official curricular club to expand its reach and offer greater visibility to students’ creative voices. Thanks to this sponsorship, the club was able to provide printed copies of the magazine to club members and published student contributors.
The Literary-Art Magazine club operates through three different committees–writing, art and design–each responsible for reviewing students’ submissions, designing the magazine layout and working towards the final publication of the magazine. The following students were in charge of leading the club this year:
24-25 Officers:
- President: Yena Nam
- Vice President: Irene Devadason
- Writing Committee leader: Ardyn Lessner
- Art Committee leader: Sahana Narasimhan
- Design Committee leader: Zaima Zareef
- Secretary: Sahasra Uppala
The primary purpose of a Literary-Art Magazine is to provide an open platform for students to share their talents in writing and art through a variety of forms. By sharing their artworks or writings through this magazine, students are able to foster literary and artistic appreciation in our school community, achieve self-expression and find their voices over time.
A printed copy of the magazine will be displayed in the school library, and a digital version, featuring a flipbook format, is accessible through The Charge’s website.
While volume 1 focused on establishing a school spirit, this year’s edition embraced the theme of a museum gallery. Through this concept, the magazine offers readers a curated experience with halls of artworks, poems and short novels. We hope this gallery-like journey reminds you that Maverick Mosaic is a space where you will encounter inspiring works on every page.
Special thanks to The Charge, our staff and every student who submitted their work! We can’t wait to bring you volume 3 next year!
