After years of waiting, Emerson is bringing back the community Trunk or Treat event today at 5:30 p.m., turning the school parking lot into a festive Halloween celebration of creativity, costumes and community spirit. Students and families can look forward to decorated car trunks, booths and games from your well known clubs and organizations. This event gives the community a chance to reconnect with one another in a fun, Halloween themed atmosphere.
This is the first time Maverick Leadership has successfully hosted Trunk or Treat since 2022, due to technical difficulties such as weather or preparation issues in the past. Leadership has been planning out this year’s event to be even better than the last by carefully structuring the layout and including more clubs and activities.
“Honestly I’m super excited about this. It’s something I wanted to do since my sophomore year and since I joined Leadership but we were just never able to, so I’m really excited to bring something to not only the community but to help the clubs make a name for themselves,” Fariha Shadiq, 12, said.
The excitement for tonight’s Trunk or Treat extends beyond the school walls. Families, neighboring elementary schools and local community members are looking forward to an evening filled with costumes, candy and festive fun. Events like these not only celebrate Halloween but also strengthens the bond between Emerson and the surrounding community, making it a night to remember.
“I really hope it continues after I graduate and I think for that to happen we have to have this one be super successful for them to want to do it over and over again and I want insane community involvement. I want people from Comstock, Elliot and Ogle there,” Lia Mathew, 12, said.
Students can look forward to a night full of fun activities and games to celebrate the spooky season. From creatively decorated trunks and booths to plenty of candy and photo opportunities with friends and family, Trunk or Treat promises something for everyone. Whether you’re coming for the candy, showing off your costume or enjoying the Halloween spirit, there’s a reason for every student to join in on the fun tonight.
“I hope that the kids are able to see all the different options they have in their future and the parents are able to see all the different things that their kids are involved in and how passionate they are about it,” Shadiq said. “I hope for the clubs that they’re able to get a name for themselves and really expand their reach and then I hope just the students at the school get to see the communities they have.”
