Orchestra performs fall concert

The Chamber, Philharmonic, and Symphonia Orchestra performed their first Fall Concert on October 27 in the auditorium.

The orchestras have been practicing for this concert for about 6 weeks and have made major improvements in their performances while practicing

“My orchestra and I have been practicing every class for our concert,” Parnita Avala, a member of the Philharmonic orchestra said. “I have improved by developing techniques such as listening to stay with the rest of the orchestra.”

The members of the orchestras are especially excited for the fall concert because they have not had a concert in about a year because of virtual school.

“I’m really excited about it (the concert) because we didn’t get to do any concerts last year,” Yerelly said. “I’m excited for this to hopefully be a success with a brand new orchestra and a cool director.”

The Chamber Orchestra performs the Alma Mater and “Beethoven Trio Opus 87.” The Philharmonic Orchestra is performing “Jupiter,” and the Symphonia Orchestra is performing “Fiddle Me-oo-ree-ee-re-aa.”

“I’m excited about the piece we are playing (Beethoven Trio Opus 87) because we are playing it without a director,” Vaanadhi Sathiyamoorthy, a member of the Chamber Orchestra said. “I think it will be interesting because we have this communication that we use through breathing so that everyone comes in on que.”

The Philharmonic orchestra was given multiple selections of pieces to play at the concert, but after listening to all the pieces being played, they ultimately chose Jupiter.

“I really like the piece that we are playing (Jupiter) because I like all the harmonies and the accompaniment,” Samhitha Yerelly, a member of the Philharmonic orchestra said.

Orchestra Director Ms. Park said that she thought that the piece that Symphonia chose to play was a great piece to start off the concert

“For Symphonia, I picked a harder piece for them,” Ms. Park said. “This was the hardest piece out of all the selections that I offered to Symphonia but they picked it and I’m a very big advocate of play the music that you want to play.”

Ms. Park says that she wants orchestra to feel like a second home to students where they can all feel welcome.

“I think this is my main thing of orchestra, having a family within the school and making wonderful music while we’re at it,” Ms. Park said.
