Frisco’s record breakers
Under the bright glow of the stadium lights at Franklin Field, Emerson High School football debuted into Frisco ISD varsity football. It set a record just a game later, being the first school in Frisco ISD history to win its first two varsity games. The record then grew to them winning the first three games, then four, then five, and then six, making its mark on Frisco ISD football forever.
EHS varsity has been given a very unique chance in their first varsity season, with it being the only school in Texas to have a returning roster of players, the same roster that led them to be undefeated in their first-ever junior varsity football season just one year before.
“It’s been very beneficial to have the boys for the year and to instill our system,” Athletic Director Kendall Miller said, “the varsity experience is something that they all need, so it’s kind of a catch-22 situation.”
Emerson football has already been subject to great acclaim as early as their third game, being featured in the Dallas Morning News, with quarterback Michael Molstad (10) being featured as Star Local Media’s athlete of the week.
“When we see this stuff about us, it’s nice to see, but we can’t get too cocky,” Molstad said, “when the season is over we can look back and be able to celebrate all the amazing stuff we did, but for now we’re taking it a game at a time.”
But it isn’t just the work of just one athlete that has led the team to victory.
“When you’re in JV you are able to rely more on your athletic ability, but for varsity, it’s totally different,” running back Izzy Bills (11) said, “you can’t just rely on what you can do, you have to rely on your team and you have to rely on your brothers.”
