Elegant beginnings: Fashion statements of our first prom

Elegant+beginnings%3A+Fashion+statements+of+our+first+prom

This prom season, the Emerson Mavericks showed up and showed out with their dresses and suits. Their outfits were all unique in that they featured all sorts of different colors, materials, and patterns, many of which reflected the trends of this prom season.

One of the most popular materials worn by Mavericks this year was satin, a popular fabric in dresses and suits alike due to its elegance and class. While satin’s popularity can be traced back to the 14th century, it has become especially common in garments in recent years. Today, retailers from Windsor to Macy’s to JC Penney carry an abundance of satin formal wear, many of which were sported by Mavericks on prom day.

Colorwise, black was the most well-loved due to its ability to match well with most, if not all other colors. A plethora of black suits were worn at prom with many pairing them with a mismatched color tie. Additionally, those wearing dresses matched their outfit to different colored accessories.

Lastly, many seniors decided to coordinate their outfits with their dates. Most decided to match the color of their dresses to their date’s tie while some matched dress and suit colors completely. This added color coordination not only displayed the seniors’ unique sense of style but also added a traditional element to their trendy outfits.

No matter the outfit, our Emerson Mavericks felt amazing. They outdid themselves with their class and style and created an unforgettable night to remember.
