The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) meeting room has never been this full. What once held a small circle of dedicated members is now filled with more than 30 students, bright energy and a shared sense of purpose. This year, the club has seen one of its largest membership increases yet, proving that more students are embracing FCCLA’s mission of leadership, service and school involvement.
The increase in FCCLA members has brought a surge of determination and creativity to the club. With so many students actively participating in meetings and projects it has become easier to create new ideas and for initiatives to take shape. The increased membership also enables the club to take on larger events and make a stronger impact.
“We’re a fun and dynamic club. The students are motivated, creative and excited to participate. It’s rewarding to see them connect, lead and contribute both in school and the community,” FCCLA advisor Katey De La Cruz said.
FCCLA provides a space where students can build meaningful connections while also working toward common goals. Collaborative projects and shared responsibilities give members opportunities to form friendships and strengthen teamwork skills. The sense of community within the club encourages students to stay involved and take pride in their contributions.
“I worked with my friend Iksha on a project for a competition. It was focused on personal communications and improving family communication,” FCCLA Secretary Officer Pramiti Thoppe,11, said. “I learned a lot from that experience, especially about leadership and working with others.”
Beyond social connections, FCCLA helps students develop valuable leadership and personal development skills. Members gain experience in public speaking, project planning and problem-solving, all while learning to take initiative and work effectively with others. These skills prepare students not only for future academic and career opportunities but also for challenges they may face in everyday life.
“I really enjoy seeing students grow and develop their skills. It’s validating to watch them take initiative, work together and succeed in competitions. The experiences like traveling for events or leading projects always leave a lasting impression on me,” De La Cruz said.
Service projects and community initiatives are a key part of FCCLA, allowing members to apply their skills in real-world settings. Organizing and participating in these activities help students learn responsibility, teamwork, and the importance of giving back. Engaging with the community helps members feel connected to something larger than themselves while making a visible difference both in and outside of school.
“I’ve learned a lot of leadership skills, like how to conduct interviews and work with people. These skills are really important, not just for the club, but for preparing for the future,” Thoppe said.
With a record-breaking membership of more than 30 students, FCCLA is celebrating one of its most successful years yet. The club’s growth reflects not only the dedication and creativity of its members but also the meaningful impact it has on the school and community. By providing opportunities for leadership, personal growth and service, FCCLA continues to inspire students to step up, work together and make a difference. This year’s achievements show that the club is thriving, and its members are truly setting a standard for what student involvement and teamwork can accomplish.
