Bad days come unpredictable, regardless of who you are. During these times, you might find yourself behaving rudely or spreading negative attitudes toward those around you, even if you didn’t want it or mean it that way. Many people allow their moods and behavior to be controlled by these bad days, even though it is true that you might get affected by those days. However, it’s important to recognize that you are the one in charge of controlling your attitude and mood, no matter what the situation is.
I, like everyone else, have had bad days in my 17 years of life. One day, I realized that if I had already experienced so many difficult days in those years, there would infinitely be more to come. And I see it unfair to continue having more bad days when I can take control to turn into good ones by regulating my thoughts, mood, behavior, and attitude. So here are some tips on how to turn those bad days into better ones.
- Spend time outdoors.
First is spending time outdoors, such as taking a walk, jogging, or riding a bike, can have significant mental health benefits. While it may seem useless, being outdoors actually helps improve our mood. Natural sunlight increases the vitamin D levels in our bodies and boosts serotonin, a hormone that regulates our mood. Additionally, being outside can refresh our minds, help to avoid negative thoughts and feel more calm. This can also assist in regulating our emotion, reducing impulsive reaction.
- Take a nap or sleep.
Second is taking a nap, which can help reduce stress and provide a break from negative thoughts that may have struggled you throughout the day. Over time, this can reduce feelings of anger and improve your overall mood. Sleep plays a crucial role in consolidating memories, which can positively influence your emotional states and promote rational thinking, thereby increasing emotional stability.
- Clean your room or house.
Third, cleaning your room or house can help you organize both your space and your thoughts. As you organize things, you may find clarity and the opportunity to reflect on your day, which can refresh your mind. You might even discover something that brings joy and help you to realize what you’ve been missing to improve your day.
- Listen to your favorite music or do your hobby.
Lastly, listening to music. Music has a powerful influence on people’s moods, it can make you feel happy, angry, or sad. Ultimately, it allows for self-expression. Listening to your favorite song can significantly improve your mood. If you are not a music person or don’t have a favorite song, you should be finding something that’s engaging in a hobby such as drawing, coloring, or doing your nails. You could also reward yourself by buying something you’ve always wanted. The key here is to find anything that helps you feel better.
So here’s some of my tips on making your bad day better, although these ideas wouldn’t always work for you, I wanted to share these for you to take as an inspiration. The point that I wanted to spot was for you to figure out what makes you happy and what you should do in order to regulate your mood whenever you are having a bad day. This is what helps you deal with bad days and allows you to have better and brighter days.
